nancy peterman
Nancy Peterman serves as a partner with Alexander Haas and provides a variety of services from campaign counsel and development assessments to executive coaching and training for board and staff. She helps organizations achieve results and pursue their missions.
She has served as President of the Georgia State University Foundation and Vice President for University Development, Executive Director of the Old Dominion University Educational and Intercollegiate Foundations, President of the DePaul Health Foundation, and Director of Development for Marist School. Nancy has given presentations at conferences and seminars throughout the country on development topics including board governance, board engagement, metrics, and trends in giving. In addition to Alma, Nancy currently serves on the board of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond.
She is married to Michael Pratt, a retired otolaryngologist who is a professor at the Virginia Tech Carillion School of Medicine. They have four children and six grandchildren. She enjoys playing violin and viola, listening to classical music, cycling, swimming, gardening, reading, and cooking.
dr. timothy channel
With over 30 years in academic leadership, fundraising, and education, Tim brings a deep commitment to advancing creative disciplines through strategic collaboration, resource development, and community engagement. As the Interim Dean for the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Radford University, Tim leads with visibility, attending performances and engaging with students and faculty across five departments to foster an environment of support and appreciation. His career has included oversight of transformative capital projects, including the Artis Center for Adaptive Innovation and Creativity, and directing major fundraising initiatives resulting in millions in gifts and grants.
Tim is dedicated to fostering inclusive, student-centered academic experiences and aligning institutional goals with sustainable growth, resourceful partnerships, and innovative programming. Core leadership strengths include business insight, resourcefulness, valuing diversity, and cross-functional collaboration. He also has extensive experience in campaign strategy, alumni relations, and building impactful donor relationships.
dr. deanne vance
Throughout her career, pianist Dr. Deanne Vance has been active as a recitalist, chamber musician and teacher. She has been a faculty member at Eastern Michigan University, the University of Michigan, the University of Wisconsin, The Academy of Music at St. Francis in the Fields (Louisville KY) and has also taught privately. While in Louisville, she was the President of the Chamber Music Society and Managing Director of The Academy of Music at St. Francis in the Fields. She was a church organist/choir director for many years, has adjudicated at many festivals and competitions, and led master classes nationally and internationally.
Vance began her musical education in Grand Rapids MI. During high school, she won scholarships to the Interlochen National Music Camp for three summers, and at age 16, won a competition to play a concerto with the GR Youth Symphony Orchestra. At the University of Wisconsin she studied with the acclaimed Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda. She also received her Master of Music degree in piano performance from Eastern Michigan University as a student of Dady Mehta and in 1983 received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from the University of Michigan, having studied with Theodore Lettvin. Dr. Vance lives in Roanoke VA with her husband, Dr. Samuel F. Vance, a retired physician.
